The toilet facilities at a popular hilltop viewpoint in Chon Buri’s Pattaya beach area have been left unstaffed and uncleaned for years, raising fears it could become a breeding ground for crime.

Local residents complained to local authorities that the toilet block at  Khao Thap Phraya viewpoint in tambon Nong Phreu of Bang Lamung district was foul smelling and unhygienic. Tourists visiting the lookout could be at risk from criminals.

The toilets are at the back of a one-rai parking lot.

Fruit vendors said Chinese tourists arriving in buses at the hilltop lookout often used these dirty, abandoned toilets. It was potentially unsafe and bad for Pattaya's image.

They appealed to authorities to help correct the problem.
