NAKHON RATCHASIMA – A Nakhon Ratchasima–Udon Thani bus ran off the highway and overturned down an incline in Kong district on Thursday, killing three passengers and injuring 20 more.
The accident happened at about 1pm, police said.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene on Mittraphap road and reported one male and two female passengers were found dead inside the bus.
Another 20 passengers were taken to nearby hospitals. The rescue was made more difficult because the coach had come to rest upside down in a ditch full of water, and it was raining at the time.
Pol Lt Col Ekarat Montri, a case officer at Kong police station, said it was thought the bus had been travelling at high speed in the rain and the driver lost control on a curve.
The driver fled the scene.
