PHITSANULOK — With less than two months to go to the "Bike for Dad" ride, Wattana "Nong Time" Kham-in never misses pedalling practice to prepare for yet another historic event.

The 11-year-old boy from Bang Rakam district has been training every day with his new bike as he is determined to be a part of the "Bike for Dad" campaign on Dec 11, said his mother Dokrak on Sunday.

All of his family will join other cyclists in Phitsanulok province on the day when bikers across Thailand and Thais in other countries jump on their bikes to honour His Majesty the King.

Nong Time grabbed national attention on the "Bike for Mom" day on Aug 16 when he showed other people that having no arms is no obstruction to riding in honour of Her Majesty the Queen.

His determination to overcome his handicap has impressed His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, who once again will lead the cycling event.

The Crown Prince donated a bike to him which once belonged to HRH Prince Dhipankara Rasmijoti. The bicycle was adjusted to fit the boy's physical features and is equipped with all of the necessary kit so that he can easily pedal and enjoy biking more. It was presented to him at his home on Sept 10.

Nong Time is still getting used to the new bike and is practising daily with his friends at home, his mother said.

"Bike for Dad" day will be held to show respect to the King who turns 88 on Dec 5. Almost 330,000 people have visited the website launched for the nationwide activity.

The Crown Prince will lead other riders on the event in Bangkok starting at 3pm. All provinces will kick off their events at the same time beginning at their provincial halls.
