PATTAYA — A Singaporean tourist who took his own life in a hotel in this resort city on Tuesday left a note warning others there was a dead body inside his room.

Niwat Piengken, a deputy investigation chief at Pattaya police station, said the 28-year-old man, whose identity is being withheld, was found dead inside a bathroom at a hotel. A knife also was found beside his body.

Police searched the room and found no evidence it had been burglarised. They also found a note reading "Warning dead body inside. Sorry about the shock," in front of the bathroom.

A hotel employee told police the visitor was supposed to check out on Wednesday. He said he called the room after checkout time and the man said he was packing, and then hung up.

The hotel staffer was uncertain when he had checked in.

An initial investigation concluded that he committed suicide and the body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Police General Hospital for autopsy.
