Doctor urges registration system for online games

A child safety expert has urged the online game industry to set up a registration system and apply time limits to minors to prevent game addiction among youths.

The move followed the case last month in Bangkok of a 14-year-old boy who killed his mother and attacked his sister after he was scolded for spending too much time playing video games.

Adisak Palitpolkarnpim, head of the Child Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention Research Centre at Ramathibodi Hospital, said he wanted to see the online game industry create an ID-based registration system for young players.
