Recipients of Prince Mahidol award named
British doctor, Nigerian scientist to be honoured

A British doctor who has improved healthcare standards in the UK and a Nigerian scientist who has pioneered community-directed treatment in Nigeria have been named recipients of this year's Prince Mahidol Award.
Sir Michael David Rawlins, chairman of the UK-based National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, is the awardee in the field of medicine, while Uche Veronica Amazigo, a medical parasitologist and public health strategy expert from Nigeria, will receive the award in the field of public health, Manasvi Srisodapol, chairman of the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation's public relations committee announced at a press conference at Siriraj Hospital yesterday.
The two were selected from 75 nominations from 34 countries, he said.
