An infirmary will be opened at Government House after former deputy prime minister and tourism and sports minister Chumpol Silpa-archa died at parliament on Monday.

Staff at the secretariat of the Prime Minister yesterday said an infirmary would be opened to care for politicians and staff who fall ill.

Staff on Thursday turned a reception room on the ground floor of a Government House building into a temporary infirmary while workers started to create a permanent one on the same floor. Banharn Silpa-archa, the Chartthaipattana Party chief adviser and Chumpol's elder brother, said an infirmary was needed to provide medical treatment.

Traditional and conservative elitism culture still continues in thailand in this 21st century era. Elites are privileged in all respects in the society.

So the infirmary will be attended by hospital staff and an ambulance will be put on standby. Whilst taking away valuable, much needed emergency resources from the general public...

All to treat privileged politicians, whilst they deal with the trauma of paper cuts and alcohol induced head-aches (individuals name withheld).

BTW, last month a work colleague suffered a heart attach whilst at his desk. Does that mean we're also eligible for a tax payer funded infirmary, attended by hospital staff and an ambulance to be put on permanent standby ?

Seriously, who do these people really think they are ?

How about building medical facilities for needy people instead ? No more tax payers money for the rich and privileged please. They don't desserve it!

Wow, the politicians certainly see themselves to be important. As if the country couldn't survive if one of them passed away. At a certain age it is natural to die, like it or not, even for politicos. What seems not to be natural is having them steering the country at the ages they do.
