Seated toilets on national agenda

The Public Health Ministry plans to promote Western-style seated toilets in the home as part of the national agenda to reduce knee problems.

The ministry will encourage 90% of Thai households to have seated toilets by 2016, Deputy Minister Cholanan Srikaew said on Monday.

According to the ministry, 86% of households still use squat toilets.

And what is the national agenda about infections of people’s legs and backsides because they sit on the toilet where other people left their footmarks? Someone should interview the thinker of PT about this important national agenda. I would love to read his personal insights on this important matter.

Thank you for the very illustrative photo, BNews. Curiously, it does not show a usual floor-level squat toilet. Still, the boy's homage to Rodin's Thinker is stirring. Dare I say, moving?

Put down the seat, put your feet on the seat and squat as you usually do!

For this kind of issues, just need to educate, not regulate. Let people choose.
