Gay anger as Red Cross rejects blood

A video clip is being circulated in the social media where the Thai Red Cross Society has been condemned for not accepting "gay’s blood".

The video “Thai Red Cross Society does not accept gay’s blood”, posted to YouTube by a user named Zerravie, has sparked a heavy criticism of the Red Cross netizens for discriminating against gay men.

In the clip, three gay men blasted the Red Cross Society for classifying gay people as a HIV high risk group.

How dumb. Nowadays, there are more heterosexual people infected by HIV than homosexual, in plain figures. Thai Red Cross attitude is nothing but discriminatory and this on account of ignorance and bias. Rather shameful and idiotic. Nothing much can be done against ignorance,.

In Sweden a man that have had had sex with another man in the period of 12 months can't donate blood because even though blood is tested the HIV can go undetected if you are recently infected. The same rule applies for women that have had sex with a man that has sex with men. For all other the the rule applies that if you had sex with another person than your steady partner in the period of 12 months you can't donate blood.

All blood has to be tested anyway so there shouldn't be any difference who donates it .It is tested right ?

Since no test is 100% accurate for HIV, it is better to be safe and refuse the donation. In my opinion its better to hurt the gay man's feelings, than hurt an innocent recipient with HIV tainted blood.
