Herbalist's song praises Thai herbs

A well-known herbal pharmacist from Kanchanaburi province has composed and performed a song to promote the use of Thai medicinal herbs and uploaded it to Youtube.

"I've been working in the herbal field for more than 30 years and have developed medicines to successfully treat patients with heart disease, diabetes or even HIV," Chairat "Mor Naen" Nontachai told reporters on Wednesday.

However, he said, the government had not given much attention to Thai herbal medicines.

    - This region of the World has some of the finest herbs and herbalists. What I don't understand is why more local people don't use them. It seems most prefer the pills. Pills only offer a temporary relief from symptoms, albeit, at times effective when needed. However, herbs get to the source of ailments offering a more natural and long term solution to ailments with less side-effects.
