3G bidders cleared of collusion in DSI probe

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and a probe committee led by the House secretary-general have found no irregularities in last month's 3G auction.

Tarit: Will present findings to NBTC

The auction did not involve any price collusion, said Tarit Pengdith, the DSI's director-general.

Unfortunately there are people amongst us that continue to self out their self interest or do their bidding for others and obstruct the country progress and democracy.

That's great news - for now. We still have to wait for the Administrative Court's verdict.

BTW, the article implies that the media was 'informed' about DSI findings before the NBTC! Mind boggling.

Like the writer said, more hurdles to go. Would not be surprised if the Senators proceed to file a suit with the Constitutional Court if their bid to stop 3G license issuance with the Admin Court fail. As last resort, the Senate can vote to dismiss all the NBTC commissioners - just to send a message who's the boss. And if you think this 3G license has been difficult, wait until we get to the digital TV license and other spectrum licenses due next year...

The industry is at a turning point. Old power vs new, and there is only one winner. It's a zero sum game. Ironically, all this seems to be a microcosm of Thai politics in general.

Perhaps now Thailand can make a small step forward into the past before making catch up with third world countries in telecommunications.
