Court clears way for 3G licensing

Ombudsman's Office challenge rejected

The Administrative Court has cleared the way for the national frequency regulator to issue 3G licences after throwing out a lawsuit by the Office of the Ombudsman.

The suit sought to suspend the process of awarding licences to the three bid winners.

Dismissing the lawsuit, the court said the Ombudsman has no mandate to petition the court.

The last three paragraphs leave plenty of room for a further delay. Clearly the companies are not happy with being told how much they can charge for their service and if they refuse to accept the ruling then the licenses will not be issued.

This was only an exercise by the old money that controls the NBTC to try to squeeze more out of the public to support the life style that they have become accustomed to living. The money they used to suck out of land lines and long distance is drying up.....how will they afford the BMWs and beach homes?

It seems someone should be held accountable to the public for answers as to why country has been held hostage by a few rather than allowed to improve and progress rapidly as it is capbable of. The hard working taxpayers deserve better.

It's high time this issue came to a close. The sooner people have access to 3G the better and if the courts decided everything was performed in accordance with the law then let's all move forward ASAP so we can enjoy all the benefits 3G have to offer the real consumers which is the people in general.
