A Thai Cathay Pacific flight attendant who said she wanted to throw coffee in the face of one of Thaksin Shinawatra's daughters has been fired.

About 50 people gather in front of the Bangkok office of Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific to protest against misconduct by a member of the airline’s cabin crew. SOMCHAI POOMLARD

The flight attendant said she wanted to throw coffee in the face of Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the youngest daughter of the ousted premier, while she was on a Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong.

    musashi,

"In many jurisdictions, inchoate crimes are felony offenses."

Please do tell us, in how many jurisdictions is the intent to throw coffee at someone a felony offense and how many have been convicted of it?

Bangkok Post... again somebody is tampering with the Likes and dislikes....You must have statistics...There are NEVER EVER 64 of your readers who would "like" the comments of a red die hard and propagandist like Android...never...please do the effort to look into this...I personally suspect some kind of agency is hired to give more " likes" to the pro Thaksin posts....and frankly; who would be surprised????

@Disc 21 Geoffo - You are correct. There is more to this story than whats published. A large group of middle age lady came out to protest for Thaksins daughter, they most likely never met her and does not know a thing about her. Red propaganda at its finest.

The actions of that flight attendant does not reflect Cathay Pacific, that is why she was fired. For people who is not flying Cathay because of this incident, grow up. Her actions were wrong and she will be history.

very happy that Cathay Pacific upholds and enforced their code of conduct & policies by terminating this flight attendant of her
action. No one should be exempt from this type of behavior.

While I consider the flight attendant's behavior foolish, people who said "I would not be flying Cathay Pacific" is equally foolish. I think what she did was inappropriate and deserved punishment but by no means a harassment. It was an isolated incident and clearly against Cathay Pacific's policy.

The thing is that the air hostess acted irresponsibly and lacks the maturity that is needed as a member of the cabin crew. Next thing you know she's pondering throwing coffee over Lionel Messi, because she loves Real and hates Barcelona. She was rightly dismissed because of her unprofessional attitude.

I wonder who drew this to the attention of the media - the only thing that makes it a story is the involvement of a Shinawatra. People seem to reach conclusions which do not follow from the reported facts. To determine the threat level you need to know whether the Facebook comments, especially the manifest posting, occurred before or after the flight? To decide if Cathay acted appropriately after the conversation with the flight manager and adviser you need to know when it occurred (inflight?), whether the aircraft captain was informed and what action they took at the time and why the attendant was not immediately replaced? We are not told

Why was the headline written in such a way as to suggest Paetongtarn was making a threat and that the threat injured a stewardess?

  • Discussion 22 : 04 Dec 2012 at 11.2622

Shocking that this happened in Cathay ! The fight attendants should be trained and tamed on such behavior.

D2 Musashi , you seem to have a handle on all things related to Thaksin so can you explain where the rent a mob came from.

50 middle aged women suddenly decide to write placards and march up and down in front of some journalists who happened to be out the front of the Cathy offices. I say rent a mob because getting these mums and aunties to assemble in one place took more than a few text messages

It kinds of reeks of the old days of threats of 500millionbaht lawsuits don't you think.
