A Bangkok taxi driver on Sunday returned a bag containing three million baht to operators of a cash-in-transit truck who dropped the money on Rama III Road.

Pongsin Jirakulthavornpat told Jor Sor 100, a popular army-owned traffic radio station, he was driving on the road alone at about 2am when he hit a money bag stuffed with money.

Call me a cynic, but this story just doesn't add up!

I choose to believe this is an honest man, and choose not to believe the conspiracy theories regarding why he did it.

Maybe it's just the cynic in me, but the qualifier of "Honest Cabbie" and the fact that this is anything but a filler story says to me tha,t most cabbies are not honest and would likely not return the money.

Kudos to the taxi driver. Love it that they contact the radio station and not the Thai Police.

    nice move for sure.
but looking at the pictures, we see a safety box.
did he bring it back to the police station because he is a honest citizen or just because he knew he could not open it without damaging the content?
two different type of virtue here: honesty vs cleverness.
but in any case, this guy should be PM. a clever or honest or both PM would be such a change...

If he were one of the people in Sukhothai that use ATM and got more money than he asked for. He will be only one that would have alerted the bank. It is hard to find people like this , needle in haystack, after it is found we should not lose it. Do not make him only 15 minutes celebrity. Make poster of him put up everywhere all over the country, phrase him for his vertue as role model for young and old citizens of beautiful nation ,Thailand that is.

Khun Yik D2, Agree and feel Briggs should share some of their fortune returned with the good finder/returner. If Briggs doesn't, then Khun Pongsin will have to wait for the good karma he definitely earned rewards him more than Briggs could.

A masterpiece of understatement from a very honest man:

Mr Pongsin said he used to work as a bank employee and he knew right away that the money in such a familiar suitcase was supposed to be transported to cash dispensers. He said he decided to return the money because he knew the owner of the bag must have been worried and was looking for it.

    Gee, ya think?
