I would rate the mega transport projects which will include almost 700 km of tracks and 800 km of additional roads as a major event that will significantly change the way Bankokians live and work. With the improved transportation and traveling, the fringe suburbs like Rangsit, Samut Prakan etc will see much development and more businesses moving out to a bigger pool of workers. More people can now stay outside Bangkok with lower property prices and commute to offices in Bangkok. This will actually relieved the congestion in Bangkok. Now it only need the government to stay in office for a full term to implement these projects.

Bangkok really needs a police general for governor. He has the perfect background for administering one of the world's major cities. They study that at the police academy.

A referendum is never a problem or an issue, under one condition of course: you need to be willing to accpet the people's will.

If you are ready to support and do whatever the majority of the people supports and votes for, then you can hold a referendum about just anything. And it will never be a waste of taxpayer's money.

I would have thought that the top issue to watch in 2013 "likely to have a big impact on the public" is the health of HM The King ?
