Ministry team challenges ICJ authority

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has no authority to interpret its own 1962 ruling over the disputed territory around the Preah Vihear temple, the Foreign Ministry's legal team says.

Cambodia failed to follow proper procedures in making a request for an interpretation on the issue, Darm Boontham, director of the Boundary Division under the ministry's Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs said.

Mr Darm was giving evidence before a House committee on state security about the strategy which the country's legal team will pursue in handling the dispute.

Sorry this is Thailand not your country. They are above laws, will not respect laws as long as it is not in their favour.

Military has no authority over this matter, only the government can decide of what to do with the outcome. if the government were to accept or reject it then at lease they do have the proper authority to do it, but not the military who make the decision.

It is difficult for a foreigner to depict a pile of rocks as a temple. Other countries might describe this as "ruins" but, that being said "challenging the authority of the ICJ", publicly,
is not considered a wise move and may come back to haunt the challengers and Thailand itself.
