The Transport Ministry is planning a second runway at U-tapao airport in Rayong to boost the country's ability to handle commercial flights.

They should change the name of the airport to Domodedovo airport II or Little Moscow Airport.

lets put all the airports in one place, when bad weather comes plus the floods, where are they going to land, Thailand needs a major airport up north, with high speed trains ??? coming, should be no problem, Plus with all these millions of more people coming here in the next 10 years, where are they going to stay, sleeping bags on the beach, just a thought, building a extra runway with 600000 arrivals , good idea, with millions more arrivals to be here soon, that will work, plus where is all the training for people coming from , you can not run an airport with out people. OH and the buildings they are going to need, need I go on

Gatwick, London's second airport, has had only one runway since it opened in the late 1950s. In 2011, it handled almost 34 million passengers with this single runway.

This proposal at U-tapao can only be put down to things such as ignorance, face-gaining and the opportunities for corruption, and not to any practical need.

As for constructing a high-speed railway to U-tapao, the same applies.

If it takes as long to develop U-tapao as it did Suvarnabhumi then by the time it is done tourist will be planning vacations to the Moon.

Two runways at U-tapao and one in Phuket. Makes sense to me.
