Chlorine gas leak leaves 40 schoolkids in hospital

About 40 students from the all-boys Saint Dominic School in Ratchathewi district were hospitalised yesterday following a chlorine gas leak from its swimming pool system.

Kowit Yuwetbamrung, assistant director of the school, said employees of the pool maintenance contractor, S.Napha Co, put hydrochloric acid in the chlorine tank instead of the hydrochloric tank in the school's basement.

Students were overcome by a strong chlorine smell as they were walking to class after morning assembly.
