PAD indictments put off to March 14

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has postponed until March 14 the indictment of 114 members of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) over their occupation of Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in 2008.

The OAG was scheduled to issue an indictment order today, but agreed to the delay at the request of PAD lawyer Puangthip Boonsanong.

Ms Puangthip said the suspects in the case were still preparing surety for bail. They were in the process of entering a contract with the Justice Fund, which had approved between 600,000 and 800,000 baht for each of them to use as a guarantee for bail.

"They were in the process of entering a contract with the Justice Fund, which had approved between 600,000 and 800,000 baht for each of them to use as a guarantee for bail."

Yellow PADs closed their mouths this time.

gleentea 17 - "Most of the defendants were found guilty of illegal assembly and trespassing."
"...illegal assembly, instigating unrest, armed trespass at night, causing damage to public property, illegal use of firearms, and illegal use of communication radio." - BangkokPost, Dec, 2010

"As the current government [paid bail] for the reds, don't see you complaining about that."
The current government did not pay for bail. PTP MPs offered their government position as surety, while the UDD paid for bail surety.

Always amusing to see the red apologists frothing at the mouth, "but...but...abhisit is evil!"

"UDD: representing a majority of voters"
    False.

"the "Sriwichai warriors" were granted an appeal."
The law affords the right to appeal a criminal conviction, there is nobody to grant you that right.
Most of the defendants were found guilty of illegal assembly and trespassing.

"These guys get the government to pay their bail."
As the current government did for the reds, don't see you complaining about that.

PAD: ping pong ball explosives...a truck exploding at a government office...illegal terrorist act of taking over airports...government property..even state security offices ransacked...police kidnapped on camera...bus load of people hijacked at gunpoint...and...

    - the 1st victim during these years of violence was a red shirt attacked at a PAD rally by 2 thugs who shot him through the neck and left him to die.

PAD: representing less than 2% of voters against an elected government.

UDD: representing a majority of voters against a military puppet government.

The 2010 violence was perpetrated against the people, not by the people.

What is wrong with this. Reds are in jail without bail. These guys get the government to pay their bail. They should wait in jail till the fund pays it. They are terrorists.

Well, contrarian #7... this stuff simply comes from FACTS... As I and many others witnessed....If only you had witnessed your red thug brothers in their violent actions you would understand thats its not at all over the top...Only the red propaganda in the red villages made it " over the top"

Disc4 contrarian "Thank heavens for elections. They add perspective to where the voters are. The Judiciary is in a different world ...Like two solitudes."

Wow! I missed this gem the first time around... What on EARTH have elections got to do with justice?!! Are you of the opinion that supporters of the ruling party don't need to face trial for their crimes? Or are you advocating arson, murder and looting as paths to democratic change?

loyhaasip1 8, the "Sriwichai warriors" were granted an appeal. They have not served a day in prison.

  • Discussion 10 : 07 Feb 2013 at 21.2010

Disc8 Loyhaasip - Exactly... I lived through those protests and there were a few violent incidents (including the one you mentioned) and virtually no deaths. And as you have shown, the violent offenders were sentenced (during Abhisit's tenure).

On the other hand (and you should read this Contrarian) there were over 80 UDD grenade attacks. A dozen soldiers were shot and/or blown up. 39 buildings were razed to the ground. A hospital was stormed. Civilians were stopped and searched and in several cases assaulted.

You know, you COULD save me some time if you tried Google.
