Two defence volunteers hurt in road blast

Injured pair among a teacher escort in Yala

A bomb went off on a village road in Yala's Muang district Wednesday, injuring two defence volunteers, police said.

Suthep Chanwanno, 30, and Pinyo Khonthon, 38, were wounded by shrapnel when a three-kilogramme explosive device exploded in tambon Yupo.

The pair was among eight defence volunteers on their way to escort teachers to school. A bomb was planted behind a pile of bricks and detonated when the defence volunteers were riding past it on their motorcycles.

    D2 nosurprise, if you follow this news,first he said PM forced him to go south to see the situation,then he said he would go after Bkk.govn.election,then he would pick 9 advisers. The lastest news is he would leave for deep south in March1. It said toward the end of this article. I don't spread the false news it is said in the news by Bkk.Post.

    Nobody in the army has ever been held accountable for the atrocities they committed at Tak Bai which continue to cause such deep resentment. And nobody in the government or army has ever had the courage to pursue those accountable or ever will. However, it is never too late to apologise for mistakes even if the perpetrators are not brought to justice. Just look how many world leaders have made apologies for their country’s mistakes in the past, many decades or longer ago. Who has the guts to stand up and apologise now?

    Deep south used to belong to Thailand all the way down to Kalantan, Tranganu, Xaiburi until we lost them to the Brit. We should offer people in the 4 provinces an option to migrate to Malaysia if they so wish. If they want to be under Malay law let them go. They can bring anything along except the land. If they remain on Thai soil they must respect Thai law. You cannot have the cake and eat it too. Having said that all the law enforcement officers must respect local culture as well. This is in addition to D2 option war or peace or migrate.

    Bandages don't heal cancer but a surgery in timely fashion will. The Thai-Muslim people in the Deep South have longed for justice for those who are responsible for atrocity at Tak Bai, from the former PM on down. That's the minimum price for a long-lasting peace that will be required by them. But if the price for peace is too high for us to pay, we have no choice but to "do as Romans do," which is to annihilate them no matter how much it will cost. The choices are both ours and theirs to choose. Peace or War, but not both.

    I don't see a reason why Charlerm had to deny meeting with ex Malasian PM if it wasn't even true. He doesn't make the trip to deep south very often or never did .This is the first time so make the most of this trip meeting both the ExPM and Advisers,it will save government's spending public money on members's trips.Why he had to be defensive?. He leaves before election and hope that whatever he tells people down south won't contradict of words of two army generals.
