Abhisit, Jatuporn in legal stalemate

Former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) core member Jatuporn Prompan walked away from an out of-court settlement over a libel lawsuit on Friday.

Mr Abhisit had filed a defamation charge against Mr Jatuporn, whom he said had falsely accused him of ordering the killing of anti-government protesters in April and May 2010.

Thaksin and his UDD openly, repeatedly threatened to use violence both in 2009 and 2010 before actually going ahead and using violence. You have now MP's who were on stage telling people to burn the city down, which they would go on to do - to attack soldiers, which they did. You also have verified reports by HRW that the UDD included armed professional mercenaries which would prompt deadly force from the government in ANY country. The Democrats and army must take responsibility for what exactly? Doing the best they could in response to confirmed, admitted, reckless terrorism and violence?

Let it be remembered...

In 2010 Abhisit hid out in military barracks. As he committed himself to being a part of the military might, and did not remain among the people, he clearly showed which camp he was in.

Once inside the barracks he was either making the decisions himself or a part of the decision-making.

Another point is, AV claims the attack against the demonstrators was necessary and unavoidable. If that were the case, and he (or they) feel justified in having been a part of that attack & dispersal...why then is it not a single one of these men stands up and says "I am responsible"?

The answer to that question is obvious.

Disc 47 - Sorry airborne, I missed your question. We all know the military answers to themselves... BUT... legally they answer to Parliament. The PM has the authority to fire the Chief of the Army, probably not recommended, and with that the responsibility for any Army action lands squarely at the feet of the PM.

The legal assembly was not a court order but issued as a state of Emergency under Emergency Decree BE 2548 by the Democrat government. Read this, http://www.humanrights.asia/news/ahrc-news/AHRC-STM-143-2010 "terms of the Emergency Decree ... are clearly in breach of its provisions(the Covenant).

Disc 46 - My feeling is you are reading into comment what you want to hear. No one is stating that all the deaths were protesters. There were some from the military and most of those have been accounted for as friendly fire (two friendly fire incidents are, or were, available on Utube). Unquestionably the most fatalities were from the protest group including one filmed assassination. Of those protesters shot none were found with a firearm.

We also find it unbelievable that no one has the moral backbone to take responsibility for their actions. In the Democrat camp everyone has claimed denial including the then PM.

About Cambodia I already answered.

If you mean the 90+ demonstrators dead...it was not I who said that.

The vast majority of dead were demonstrators. Not all.

Insinuating you are right because I personally did not respond to your comment is odd.

Anyway AV either gave the order or knows who did. They are all protecting each other!

They all claim it was necessary and justified. So why hide?

Ricefield, maybe you would like to take the time to answer my question about whether the army answers to civilians, before continuing to lay blame at Abhisit's feet. Reds demand justice but refuse to acknowledge any court ruling not in their favor such as the several proclaiming the protest to be an illegal assembly.
