PM promotes 'Thailand 2020' expo

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Saturday urged people to visit "Thailand 2020: Thailand’s New Step to the World Expo" at The Chaeng Watthana Government Complex.

Ms Yingluck on Friday chaired the opening ceremony for the event which runs until Tuesday, March 12.

The exhibition highlights 2 trillion baht worth of planned investments in infrastructure development megaprojects, most of them involving transport, over the next seven years.

Why is Thailand so keen on making a fool of itself over and over? Thailand wants to play in the big league, but to be able to do that it will have to go to school for another 100 years.

I don't think Thailand can afford to keep losing half a trillion baht a year to keep Peua Thai in power until 2020...

Doh! Just realised... that's only ONE of their schemes... What of all the other losses?

Given the fiasco over the stadium, those expo pavilions wont be ready when the gate opens. Thailand is too hot to host any outdoor grand exibitions, tourist would melt if it opens during Thai new year. Even singapore decided to host F1 at night in september due to day time hot weather and in later months for cooler weather. Anyway those 2 trillion baht would likely end up in some swiss bank accounts, doubt even tourist would benefit from those facilities.

I think the bid for Expo - Thailand will be ever hard press if Tokyo becomes the host for the 2020' olympic games.
The entire focus would be given to Tokyo and not Bangkok.
    (article quote from Japan times)
"Tokyo’s bid plans for the 2020 Olympics received high marks from the IOC Evaluation Commission,
which finished a four-day inspection on Thursday."

"... 2-trillion-baht investment in infrastructure would create new opportunities for the country and Thai people ..." certainly! ... as soon, as the trillions have been 'allocated' ...

Can somebody please tell the PM the host city has not yet been chosen. Unless she has told her fugitive brother to trash the Dubai bid (which will leave him without a base), Thailand, with all its rotten politics and corruption, and participants having to leave the country every 90 days to extend visas, has little chance of being the host country.
