Pongsak: Energy 'crisis' is over

- +

The country has weathered the energy "crisis" and there is enough electricity to satisfy demand over the Songkran festival, Energy Minister Pongsak Raktapongpaisarn said on Tuesday.

The minister said demand for electricity this morning stood at 24,300 megawatts, and peak demand for the day was expected at 25,700 megawatts.

Current demand for electricity was up 1,000 megawatts from April 5, the first day of the "energy crisis" period,  because many manufacturers had resumed normal production, he said.
