Tourists stranded in midair in Chiang Mai

- +

Twenty Thai and foreign tourists were stranded for an hour when the electric monorail at the Chiang Mai Zoo stopped working on Saturday.

A rescue basket was deployed to free the stranded passengers from cars that were sitting about 10 metres above the ground. There were no injuries.

A preliminary investigation showed that the vehicle did not have a faulty electrical system, but a brake problem caused it to stop unexpectedly, said Wittaya Singkum, a public relations officer at the zoo.
