KHON KAEN - Relatives of inmates jailed at Khon Kaen prison can no longer send in Thai-style omelet to prisoners after a person was caught trying to smuggle in drugs inside the popular dish.
Kiatchai Klumjohor, a corrections officer, spotted two plastic bags containing suspicious-looking fried beaten eggs at the prison's food checkpoint on Thursday. He said the omelets together weighed almost half a kilogramme, had a dark-yellow colour, and tasted bitter.
With the assistance of the Office of Narcotics Control Board, the food was deemed to contain illicit substances after being chemically tested by anti-drug authorities.
