Labour Minister Chalerm Yubamrung says he will not attend the first meeting of the new cabinet on Tuesday because he has an appointment for an annual physical check-up.
Mr Chalerm announced this when asked why he did not join in the group photo session at Government House before the swearing-in ceremony yesterday.
He said it was more convenient for him to wait for the other cabinet members to finish before being sworn in at Siriraj Hospital, which is near his home. He rejected a suggestion that he might be dissatisfied with being demoted in the new cabinet lineup. He was previously deputy prime minister in charge of security affairs.
