Regulators on Monday suspended two Voice TV commentators and ordered GMM B to refund members for the terminated pay-TV channel on GMM Z set-top boxes.
The broadcasting committee of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) ordered GMM B, CTH LCO Co's subsidiary operating Z Pay TV, to refund its subscribers in 30 days after acknowledging the order, said NBTC deputy secretary-general Pakdee Manaves.
Failure to comply will result in a fine of up to 5 million baht and a daily fine of up to 100,000 baht, he said. Z Pay TV went dark in February this year.
Besides, the broadcasting committee resolved to suspend two news commentators of Voice TV, owned by Panthongthae Shinawatra, the son of Thaksin.
ML Nattakorn Devakula and Atukkit Sawangsuk were banned for 10 days from Aug 15-24 for airing prohibited content in news programmes, Mr Pakdee said.
They violated orders No. 97/2557 and 103/2557 and Section 37 of the broadcasting act on content affecting national security.
