A cabinet reshuffle was announced on Friday night involving mostly economic ministers.
The shake-up in the Prayut Chan-o-cha administration saw several switches in role: PM's Office Minister ML Panadda Diskul becomes deputy education minister; Deputy Transport Minister Ormsin Chivapruck is now PM's Office minister; PM's Office Minister Suwaphan Tanyuvardhana is made justice minister; industry minister Atchaka Sibunruang becomes science and technology minister; deputy education minister Teerakiat Jareonsettasin is appointed education minister; deputy commerce minister Suvit Maesincee becomes PM's Office minister; and science and technology minister Pichet Durongkaveroj is appointed digital economy minister.
There are five newcomers to the cabinet. They are Virasakdi Futrakul who becomes deputy foreign minister; Chutima Bunyapraphasra is made deputy agriculture and cooperatives minister; Pichit Akarathit is appointed deputy transport minister; Sonthirat Sonthijirawong is deputy commerce minister; and Uttama Savanayana is industry minister.
The reshuffle was approved in the Royal Gazette on Thursday and announced on Friday night. The changes take effect immediately.
