Future Forward Party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit and two other executive members have been summonsed to meet police on Friday, when they will face charges for comments broadcast on Facebook.
The Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) on Thursday ordered Mr Thanathorn, Jaruwan Sarankate and Kaikong Watthayakarn to report to investigators to hear charges of violating the Computer Crimes Act.
Authorities have decided to go ahead with the charges even though the three men had earlier reported and given their accounts to investigators in a show of their good intentions on July 31. That meeting came after the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) lodged a complaint against them.
Mr Thanathorn commented on Facebook Live on June 29 that politicians lured to switch parties before the election showed whether they supported democracy or the regime.
"It is a good move. People will know and make their decision (when they vote)," he said to reporters before the start of the programme "Returning Friday to People" he hosted with Ms Jaruwan and Mr Kaikong.
That comment was broacast live. It was discussed on the programme.
Col Burin Thongprapai, a military lawyer for the NCPO, later complained to the TSCD that their comments could damage national security and implicitly linked the regime to the movement of politicians to parties supporting the NCPO.
