KALASIN: A candidate of little-known Prachathai Party contesting for a House seat in the March 24 election in Constituency 2 of this northeastern province has declared an end to his campaigning and party membership, citing lack of party support.

Meechai Khaisaeng said he has closed down the party's provincial office, which is located at house number 228/1 in Moo 15 village of tambon Lup in Muang district.

He said that in the three months since the office was opened on Jan 14, the party had never paid for the office rental, electricity and water bills and other office expenses.

Mr Meechai said he also had not received any financial support from the party for the campaign.

Therefore, he said, he decided to end his campaign and closed the party's office on Sunday.

Mr Meechai said he would go to the Election Commission office on March 12 to resign as a member of the Prachathai Party. This would effectively terminate his candidacy in the election.

Other party candidates would continue with their campaigns in Constituencies 1, 3, 4 and 5, he added.
