The Election Commission (EC) has invited its counterparts in Asean and other countries from outside the bloc, including the European Union, to observe the March 24 election, EC secretary-general Jarungvith Phumma said.
Invitations were sent out to foreign poll regulators in Asean as well as Mexico, the Maldives and South Korea, he said, adding many countries have already accepted. He did not say which ones.
The EU will also consider issuing the invite to its member countries, Mr Jarungvith said.
The EC secretary-general explained the commission was ready for advance voting on Sunday.
The ballot boxes and polling stations have been prepared to accommodate a lot of voters who have registered to cast their ballots early. Extra poll supervisors have been appointed as a backup at the stations.
The seven poll commissioners have split up and will visit various polling stations to monitor efforts to organise the advance voting, he said.
Given the number of MP candidates, the documents the EC has mailed to households detailing their names and numbers may not contain the most up-to-date information, Mr Jarungvith said, noting some candidates were disqualified after the documents were distributed.
He urged voters to check for the latest updates put up on boards at polling stations on the day of the advance vote, and on election day.
The EC has also made available an election-related app for download. It carries updated details about the candidates both in the constituency and party-list systems.
