Yingluck to visit Malaysia

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will pay an official visit to Malaysia on Monday, ending a round of courtesy calls to introduce herself to leaders of the other nine members of Asean, reports said on Saturday.

The premier will leave for Kuala Lumpur at 11.20am and is scheduled to meet her Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak in Putrajaya, 25 km south of the capital, to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two nations as well as discuss regional issues.

Ms Yingluck will inform Mr Najib of Thailand’s readiness to host meetings this year of the Thailand-Malaysia Joint Commission and the Thailand-Malaysia Committee on Joint Development Strategy (JDS).

She will also have a royal audience with Malaysia's 14th and oldest king, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, at Istana Negara (National Palace) in Kuala Lumpur before attending a dinner hosted by Mr Najib.

Ms Yingluck will return to Bangkok the same day at 11.25pm.

Her official visit to Malaysia was postponed from October last year due to the flood crisis.
