Thais against corrupt populist policies

More than three-quarters of people surveyed in the latest Bangkok Poll said they would reject the government's populist policies if they also bring about corruption.

The survey on Bangkokians' thoughts on ways to solve corruption during the Yingluck government involved 1,039 respondents aged over 18 in the capital city.

The pollster said 79.1% of the respondents were against the government's populist policies if they come  with corruption, but 20.9% said they would still accept them.

What an ironic photo. The more the PTP fights it, the more Thailand slips. They must be doing something right, rubbing shoulders with corruption as if its their long lost friend.

There goes that face again! Why not just throw in the towel on this one? Trying to isolate the source to blame something is pointless. It is pervasive in nearly every aspect of reality here, and therefore cultural. It cannot be changed.

This poll was conducted among the few who pay any significant tax. Wonder what the figures would be nation-wide?

There should be a poll on good and bad polls.

IMHO a poll with leading questions is a bad poll.

As populist policies are mainly to help red shirts in the north and Isaan taxi drivers in Bangkok, this result is hardly surprising as Bankokians are paying for these policies.

Thailand scoring 37 out of 100, sharing the same score and ranking with Malawi, Morocco, Suriname, Swaziland and Zambia.
I don't like to say it, but being ranked alonside those counties is very demeaning.
Obviously the powers to be have to do something to lift Thailand's score.
The AEC will bring all members under the spotlight, all comments made from the countries leaders will be for all concerned, not just for their domestic population.

They are against populist policies all right, but what are they for? Non-populist policies? But what are they anyway?

hmmm about the same percentage that said they support corruption.

Have you ever met a Thai who likes corruption-no!, neither have I in 20 years here. Funny about that eh

Having the poll is one thing but we all know nothing will be done to stop the corruption. No questions asked about who was actually running the country and there for condoning the corruption.

So 79% are against the policies of the Puea Thaksin regime. How soon will they fall?
