Abhisit, Suthep opt to stand trial in court

Democrat Party leader and former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Friday that he will report to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) on Dec 13 to acknowledge the charge a charge of murder relating to the 2010 protests and was ready to prove his innocence in court.

He said this after accepting the department’s letter calling him in to acknowledge charges of authorising the killing of anti-government protesters by soldiers during the April-May 2010 violence in Bangkok.

Why does the Bangkok Post claim that AV and ST 'opt' to stand trial, people charged with a crime do not have the 'option' to stand trial?

You can see if someone is a “statesman” by judging his actions and the way of handling a (any) situation; therefore I see AV as such a person but can hardly see the person far away in the same light.

Don’t expect logical thinking D14 from someone who is driven by revenge and greed.

There is a simple answer to your question D9 the red’s used weapons and killed soldiers and innocent bystanders, did you see anyone using a weapon at the “Pitak” rally?

"AV insisted that there would be no negotiations for his own benefit, even though under the charges he could be sentenced to death."
AV is attracting sympathy from the public.

The Deep South is becoming more and more like a war zone, and this Govt only wants to spend time and effort on a political witch hunt like this? Come-on? Shouldn't they reopen Tak-Bai's 85 wrongful death cases instead, in order to bring justice to the people in the region?

Soldiers including Col.Romklao died of tear gas wounds and by water canons used by red shirts ? Dozens of men in black with M47 rifles and shooting can be seen in video clips and the police and military is not allowed to defend themselves in a state of emergency ? What a dirty political game and the military chief in charges at that time is quiet.

What should have been a transparent and straightforward account of the event of the 2010 protest has now become a convoluted mess because of the lies and halftruths spewed from both sides. The fact about what happened which is understandable and even acceptable to an extent is now forever muddled and the lies becoming impossible to undo.

State of emergency , Internal security act , violence , M79 grenade launcher and several explosions , M47 rifles shooting , burning private property , siege on TV station, hospitals and government buildings, men in black, blocking and searching private cars and 3 month take Bangkok hostage. Every democratic statesman on this earth would have taken same action as Abhisit. I wonder what the military and world media have to say about this. Very bad for Thailand.

AV and Suthep are showing Character and resolve. What is Thaksin Showing? Not much.
