EC asked to disqualify Abhisit

Former senator Ruangkrai Leekijwattana has asked the Election Commission to quickly consider whether former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has lost his qualification to be an MP.

The Defence Ministry on Jan 2 issued an order, signed by ACM Sukumpol Suwanatat, retroactively revoking the orders issued  in 1987 and 1988 appointing Mr Abhisit as an instructor at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA) and as a commissioned officer holding the rank of sub-lieutenant.

Mr Ruangkrai, who had earlier asked the EC to probe Mr Abhisit's qualifications, asked the EC in a fresh petition to quickly act accordance with Section 91 of the constitution and Article 10 of the Election Commission Act by sending a letter to the House speaker so that he could subsequently ask the Constitution Court to make a final ruling on Mr Abhisit's MP status.

D 12 - As those that don't vote in Thailand break the electoral law and are banned from voting in the next National election (Chamlong of the PAD is among this group). Those that didn't vote can't complain too loudly about the party that was elected by the 40% that did, how can they as they didn't fulfill their national responsibility. FYI - it was 48.41% of those that chose to vote, voted PTP.

Candidates who won in the election doesn't necessarily mean that he/she is the choice of the majority especially if money was involed. A few people will be remembered because of their integrety and honesty, while some or many will be remembered not because of thier good deeds but due other reasons. It has been proven many times that only those moneyed politicians can won in the election. People inorder to survive amidst poverty have to be wise to satisfy their hungry stomach.

@rice. Not the majority of Thai people turfed him out. In fact only 40 % of the majority who once again voted for a corrupt fugitive criminal with a slick PR team who they believe according to him will make them rich in 6 months, solve BKK traffic in 3 months etc...

Disc 8 - If the majority of Thai people, like you state, love Abhisit how come the majority of Thai people voted to turf him and his government out? 2-3% of the population of Bangkok representing the elites is not the majority of Thai people, BTW.

    Discussion 1

He will get his chance to become a fugitive when the murder charges against him become real. As far as running the country through his sister by phone that is impossible. First he's not as popular as you think and secondly he couldn't win an election when he lived in Thailand, how do you think he would win an election if he was absent?

  • Discussion 9 : 04 Jan 2013 at 20.569

Yes Disc 5 everybody will remember Abhisit sure but not the way your surggesting. They will remember how he made Thailand unpopular with Russia,Germany,Cambodia,Saudia arabia,Dubia and the list goes on.Let alone what he did in 2010.

Well for me Mr. AV serves the country well compared with the previous PM's. He finished his term as PM with integrety that's why he has no reasons to hide in other countries. Those accusations against him are just politically motivated. He may be sentence to jail as obvioulsy, this present administration is making impossible things to possible just to convict this man and put to jail. But majority of Thai peope especially those in the upper level status have all the reasons to love him and sympathize with him.

Disc 2 - Were you fine with Ruangkrai's complaint to the EC that eventually found Samak guilty of cooking on TV and his disqualification by the Const Court or are you just against his complaint on Abhisit?

Disc 5 - I think you are correct in Abhisit will be remembered but not likely in the same enduring form you suggest.

    Jacksprat you are right.
Since many months I always warned that Shinawatra family is preparing a dictature in Thailand.
Tomorrow EC will be asked to discalify Opposition parties, then day after tomorrow PTP will ask coalition parties to join in only one PTP party...

The present administration is uncomfortable with Mr. AV. that's why they want to put him down. This man will always be remembered by Thai people as he is a man with moral principles and integrety. What will happen next after all the oppositions are disqualified to run in the election? What good will it gives to the country? and the people?
