The Democrat Party's announcement that Bangkok governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra will seek a second term in office has landed with a thud.

Sukhumbhand: Seen as a safer bet

Many supporters waiting to hear the main opposition party's choice of candidate for the gubernatorial contest fell silent when the announcement came.

    Sukhumbhand wouldn't be the Decorate candidate if he hadn't threatened to run as an independent if the Democrats didn't endorses him.. They knew that that would split the vote and PTP would win in an instant. It will be interesting to see if those Democrat supporters that were not happy with his power play will actually turn out to vote.
