DSI to investigate skytrain fund

Democrats say move is to derail governor race

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has agreed to investigate a complaint that the planned infrastructure fund by Bangkok Transit System Co (BTSC) skytrain operator is fraudulent.

This advertisement for the "BTS Rail Mass Transit Growth Infrastructure Fund" was running on the websites of several Bangkok media - but was suddenly jerked off in a fit of internet-cleansing after a new investigation was authorised by the DSI Wednesday afternoon.

The move came as Bangkok governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra Wednesday reported to the DSI to acknowledge charges of unlawful granting of the extension contract to the BTSC.

DSI has to do it otherwise they know it is going to be a tragic vote count for their ruling PTP.
Most of the people in Bangkok knows what had happened to Bangkok in 2010 and who had saved Bangkok
from the floods in 2011. It's their last stand. They also know who set up the stage for the fire trucks which Apirak had to bear the brunt. Now it's going to be another trap for MR.Sukhum...

So many cases to investigate from where does all the man power come from? Or is it just the power behind?

D13 - But the other side of the coin is, Bangkokians are not going to rush out and vote for the alternative either. After the police stood aside and allowed the UDD to ravage Bangkok for months on end, you really think they are going to choose a police general who is supported by the same UDD/PTP that led the assault on Bangkok?

As the gubernatorial election is near, I believe most Bangkokians will treat this matter at least an ethic issue, if “not” a legal issue. I believe most Bangkokians will at least question if Sukhumbhand did not rush to extend the contract for the benefits of BTSC and some others behind the scene, then can Sukhumbhand proudly say that he rushed to extend the contract for the benefits of the taxpayers and Bangkokians, as he has been claiming as his priority and duty as a governor? I am sure that Sukhumbhand cannot explain how his hasty awarding the contract extension to BTSC does benefit the taxpayers and Bangkokians more than the others.

im sure the Governor must have had his lawyers check out the contract before signing it....as well as BS lawyers and all related parties.

"Fair enough" for BTSC to say so in its statement. But that is too far from enough to explain why the accused rushed to extend the contract for another 13 years to BTSC, when the current contract will not expire for another 17 years until 2029. Is it much better for the taxpayers' benefits and in Bangkokians’ interests that BMA invite several bidders at the right time, without a rush, to bid for the extension contract transparently and fairly, rather than awarding it to BTSC without going through the proper and transparent process? To most, such acts definitely look very fishy and totally dishonest.

DSI chief Tarit Pengdith, is a government employee so he is obviously performing his mission issued to him by the government to take out this candidate for Bangkok Governor so the government party PT can field their representative without fear of competition. Again a plan by Mr. T no doubt ruthlessly executed by his henchmen in the government.

I do not understand why the DSI is involved in this. The fund has yet to be approved by the SEC - if there are concerns then surely they should be directed to the SEC to stop approval if this investment is considered to be fraudulent as alleged
