Voters 'want honest governor'

Honesty tops the list of qualities Bangkok residents are seeking in a governor, according to a new Suan Dusit Poll.

The pollsters from Suan Dusit Rajabhat University interviewed 1,215 eligible voters in Bangkok, seeking their opinions on their preference to become Bangkok governor, from Jan 14-18.

The two front runners in the election scheduled for March 3 are MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, the Democrat incumbent, and Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen, who has the backing of the Pheu Thai Party.

In another poll voters are inclined to support voter buying, if that is true these voters have no rights to demand an honest governor.

"Name one governor the past 50 years that fit these qualifications?" Chamlong Srimuang did when he became governor. He refused to accept his salary, saying his military pension was all he needed, and received the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award. Unfortunately, he threw in his lot with Sondhi and the yellow shirts and has pretty much trashed his once good reputation.

Thailand has 1,600, ( yup, not a misprint )Generals with no wars, except for the Southern insurgency which is only a "conflict" and, have nothing to do when they are finished ordering new expensive, sophisticated, armaments from the " Killers Are Us " catalogue,so they want even more people to order around. What a title Governor/General Supitanferingling !

Disc. #16: Howell - Contrarian.....Many folks indicate they can differentiate propaganda from real news. This is impossible. One cannot be discerning between two sides, if they only know one. This circumstance is aggravated when one side is actively eliminated as on some other discussion Boards. This one is pretty good. My point on the motives and outcomes of these Opposition sympathetic Public Opinion Polls stands. They reflect opposition thinking more than Public Opinion. Evidence for which is made in Disc.#12.

That is really the prerequisite. Before we vote, we should see to it that the one we are going to elect is honest. But sometimes, a lot of politicians are plastics.
