Govt urged to reject claims

The Foreign Ministry should formally reject Phnom Penh's claim that Thailand had intruded on Cambodian territory around Preah Vihear temple, the Democrat Party says.

The opposition wants the ministry to defend Thailand's actions in the temple dispute as the two countries prepare to argue their positions at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) this year.

"I call on the government to issue a statement against Cambodia's claim [at the ICJ]," Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said yesterday. "To say nothing now would put Thailand at a disadvantage [during the trial]."

"Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul is unsure what the next step should be in the fight to protect the 4.6 sq km disputed area around the temple, Mr Abhisit said.He urged the minister to put Thailand's national interests ahead of any other considerations."

and what is the Thailand's national interest exactly? to go to war or to live peacefully with her neighbors?

Since when the Democrat people has ever respect any laws you are not talking about this world court, but the laws of their own courts.
I have stated again and again that the Preah Vihear Temple and the surrounding land are belong to Cambodia. prior the court ruling on this matter all the judges must had to review over and over found that the surround land is located in side Cambodia's territory according to the map Annex-I which was the world court was using is the only one. not the one that thais unilaterally self drawn maps had presented to the Judges but then all of them got tossed out by the court.

DEM led government had allowed the Cambodia to ask for ICJ's interpretation. So, they should abide all decisions going to be made by ICJ.
