Handing out free things is the hallmark of a politically and intellectually bankrupt system. It is the equivalent of promising anyone who votes for you as class president, free candy. Bangkok's got problems, and none of them can be solved with free bus rides and cheap JJ rent.

Many Thai friends said they used to cast their votes for the DEM for the soft spoken and conservative style of Chuan Leekpai. They said they had no better choice at that time, since they did not want to vote other parties lead by mafia style people, or lead by retired generals, even though voting the DEM to office did not improve Thailand. However, many of them turned to vote TRT when Thaksin launched the party, and they felt for the first time that their votes really made the difference, as Thailand developed rapidly, and quickly got out of the financial crisis. I believe Bangkokians will do the same this time for a good change.

    Weera Yiprae of the EC:-

1:- A candidate can be disqualified if he or she announces policies that are beyond the Bangkok governor's authority.

2:- Complainants who intentionally file false allegations will be subject to penalties.

3:- If the person filing the complaint is a politician, his or her party may be dissolved.

Abhisit will make sweeping accusations in the media but he won't dare lay a single charge with the EC, this is how far the Democrat party has fallen.

Many make fun of how incapable police officers are but have them run for governor and all of a sudden they are some of the best qualified! Either we are still scraping the barrel for leadership or people just don't know what they want

DEM sponsored governor did not cause the BKK flooding. BKK governor did what he could but did not cooperate with the relevant state agencies. He was more concerned about his position (governor), because he said, I am the one who will be fire......., so listen only to me. It was the DEM who politicized the national flood crisis to gain political mileage. Parliament debate revealed some information on the matter. If it was not for the hard working PM and her team, and her non-confrontational leadership style, BKK flooding problems would not have solved so quickly.

Disc. #2 - If I am not mistaken, it wasn't the Dem's who caused the flooding problem. The current government botched the whole thing.

I continue to be amazed at how easily a self-serving Opposition sold this notion. I always challenge those who come up with this stuff to indicate one other National disaster of similar kind and magnitude that was handled better --- New Orleans anyone? Or which national leader worked harder and with greater empathy than Ms. Yingluck during such a national disaster. In summary, no-one comes up with any answers. Rote following and repetition of opposition agenda's is not becoming.

DEM sponsored governors had been treating Bangkok as a separate country with its own rules. They did not work closely with other state agencies but blame them when things went wrong - eg the national flood crisis. They tried to circumvent central government - eg BTS case.
