In a reversal of its previous decision, the National Rice Price Policy Committee (NRPC) on Monday decided to continue the pledging price for ordinary paddy at 15,000 baht per tonne until Sept 15, reports said.
In the South alone, the 15,000 baht pledging price will remain in place until Nov 30.
The decision was made at Monday's meeting of the NRPC chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong.
It will be tabled to the cabinet for consideration on Tuesday.
An NRPC meeting chaired by since-sacked commerce minister Boonsong Teriyapirom on June 18 decided to slash the paddy pledging ceiling price to 12,000 baht a tonne from 15,000 for the current crop, effective from today, July 1, and limit the pledging amount to no more than 500,000 baht per household.
