The leader of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) declared the end of the two-day rally hours after the Constitution Court's ruling, which said the amendment to the composition of the Senate is unconstitutional but does not require the disqualification of the 310 legislators who voted for it nor need the disbanding of the political parties involved.

Mrs Tida said the UDD position remains unchanged on ending the charter written by coup makers and added that the push for a new constitution will be through the Pheu Thai Party.

"Having announced its position, the UDD calls for an end to the rally no later than midnight as there is no need to keep the members here when conditions and situations have not reached a critical stage,'' she said.

She later told red-shirt members at the stadium that the UDD opposes attempts by the court to interfere with the administrative and legislative branches.
