Supreme Commander Thanasak Patimapagorn will call a meeting of armed forces commanders after the royal ceremony marking His Majesty the King's birthday on Dec 5 to discuss ways of solving the current conflict in the country, air force chief ACM Prajin Jantong said.
ACM Prajin said this after an oath-taking ceremony for the armed forces at the Army Club on Vibhavadi Rangsit road on Tuesday morning.
He called for the Thai people and state officials to heed His Majesty the King's advice for them to be the main force of the land. He believed the situation would finally be resolved without bloodshed.
Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha, the army chief, said soldiers will keep the situation under watch from a distance and allow those in the political sector to solve the problems between themselves.
Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew, the national police chief, denied as untrue Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit Thoopkrachang's comment that the protesters would today be allowed into the Metropolitan Police headquarters.
He said the police would definitely not allow the protesters to intrude into Government House, parliament or the Metropolitan Police Bureau headquarters.
Pol Gen Adul also denied a report that Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit had been removed as chief of operations of the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO).
