The Appeal Court has decided it will consider the request of the Election Commission (EC) to disqualify Sukhumbhand Paribatra from his position as Bangkok governor.
According to EC secretary-general Puchong Nutrawong, the commission sent its request to the court last Monday and the court accepted the request for consideration on Thursday.
Therefore, the commission will write to MR Sukhumbhand and inform him that he has to cease his duties as Bangkok governor, in compliance with Section 239 of the constitution.
The Appeal Court will subsequently decide if MR Sukhumbhand can run in a fresh election.
