The official results of the Senate poll are expected to be announced in seven days if there are no complaints filed against winning candidates, Election Commission (EC) secretary-general Puchong Nutrawong said on Monday.
Mr Puchong said that all of the 93,534 polling stations in 77 provinces throughout the country opened and closed on time on Sunday.
The voter turnout was about 18 million, or 42.52%.
There were no disruptions at polling units. The only serious incidentyesterday was a bomb explosion in Narathiwat's Rueso district which killed two policemen and wounded three others. The policemen were on the way to a polling station for guard dutiies.
Only seven complaints were filed with election officials. Most of them were for alleged violations of the Election Act or EC announcements concerning campaign limits.
There were no complaints of vote buying.
There was a case of a man tearing up a ballot paper in Nakhon Pathom. An investigation revealed that it was a misunderstanding, not an act of civil disobedience.
If there are no complaints against winning candidates, the official result of yesterday's Senate poll is expected to be announced in seven days, Mr Puchong said.
On a new election for members of the House of Representatives, Mr Puchong said the EC had received the complete ruling of the Constitution Court, which annulled the Feb 2 poll last week.
The EC will meet on the matter tomorrow and is likely to call a meeting next week of the 73 existing political parties to discuss a new election, he added.
