An M79 grenade was fired into the compound of the Daily News newspaper on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road about 9pm on Thursday. No injuries were reported.

The grenade landed on a pavement near the main office building.

Police said the grenade was likely to have been launched from the elevated tollway in front of the newspaper's offices.

Meanwhile, People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) leader Suthep Thaugsuban said he will unveil his strategies on April 30 for yet another ''final battle'' in his bid to oust the caretaker government.

Mr Suthep announced his plan during a visit to the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) office on Thursday.

Although PDRC demonstrators show no sign of quitting, he and other PDRC leaders believe that if the political crisis lasts up to a year it will hurt the economy.

During his visit he urged staff of the PEA to join the anti-government movement.

''Join our fight, PEA brothers and sisters. I will outline battle strategies on April 30. We will fight to achieve our victory. The battle may take three, five or seven days.

''Several special operations, coupled with a show of public force, will be held. The PDRC will hold activities between April 27 and 28 to mark 180 days of our fight to remove the government,'' said the PDRC leader.

Mr Suthep spoke after leading PDRC demonstrators from the main rally site in Lumpini Park to the PEA headquarters on Ngam Wong Wan Road.

The PEA is the sixth state enterprise to have been visited by the PDRC in its campaign for reform before elections. Mr Suthep and other PDRC leaders received a warm welcome from PEA employees who greeted them with flowers and cash donations.

PEA deputy governor Pisith Surathaya and PEA labour union president Sudcharoen Somchom later led the PDRC leaders to a meeting with PEA executives and labour leaders.

The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) plans to hold another rally on May 6, one day before the Constitutional Court is expected to rule on caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's case over the transfer of National Security Council chief Thawil Pliensri.

UDD chairman Jatuporn Promphan said the court was expected to read its verdict on May 7.

The UDD will hold its rally on Utthayan Road in Thawi Watthana district of Bangkok.

The rally will continue until the red-shirt demonstrators have won, he said.
