The Court of Appeal on Thursday upheld the prison term handed down to prominent red-shirt Yossawaris Chuklom, alias Jeng Dokchik, for lese majeste.

The court confirmed the sentence given to the leading member of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), one of the defendants charged with terrorism in connection with the political protests in 2010, for comments in a speech he gave in 2010.
Yossawaris made the speech from a UDD stage on March 29, 2010.
The court agreed with the lower court’s Jan 17, 2013 ruling that part of it was lese majeste, in violation of Section 112 of the Criminal Code and Sections 2, 8 and 12 of the charter, and upheld the sentence of two years imprisonment without suspension.
Yossawaris' lawyer, Winyat Chartmontree, offered 500,000 baht to secure his bail.
After the Appeal Court's ruling this morning Yossawaris was taken to Bangkok Remand Prison.
He plans to take his case to the Supreme Court, which is expected to decide on his bail request next week.
