Govt, Senate to meet tomorrow

Representatives of the caretaker government and the Senate will meet tomorrow at an undisclosed location to discuss political problems, acting Senate Speaker Surachai Liangboonlertchai said.

Mr Surachai said acting Prime Minister Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan had accepted his invitation to attend a meeting on May 19. He believed this would not be postponed.

However he declined to disclose the time and the venue of the meeting, citing the government's request to avoid a rally by the People's Democratic Reform Committee protesters who would put pressure on it.

"Representatives of the government and the Senate will attend the meeting. A press conference will be held afterward," Mr Surachai said.

He will give details of his discussion with Mr Niwattumrong to members of the Senate in an unofficial meeting at 1.30pm at rooms 306 and 308 of Parliament Building No.2.
