PAD airports trial moved to mid-2015

The Criminal Court has postponed until July 20 the examination of evidence in the case against 96 People's Alliance for Democracy members indicted on various charges related to the seizure of Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports in 2008.

The court on Monday explained the charges related to the airports' seizure against the 96 defendants, which include terrorism and violation of the emergency decree. The defendants - who include Sondhi Limthongkul, Maj Gen Chamlong Srimuang and Pibhop Dhongchai - pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against them.

The court then set July 20 next year for the next hearing to examine evidence and hear from witnesses for the plaintiff and defendants.

PAD lawyer said eight out of the 96 defendants could not appear in court today due to being sick or occupied by other tasks. The lawyer asked the court to dismiss the 79th defendant Suthi Atchasai, who committed suicide in July, from the case.
