National Legislative Assembly members will eet behind closed doors on Friday to cast their votes on the three impeachment motions, but the counting of the votes will be done openly according to the law and parliamentary regulations, NLA chairman Pornpetch Wichitcholachai said on Thursday.
Mr Pornpetch said the NLA would first vote on the cases involving former House speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont and former Senate speaker Nikhom Wairatpanich, beginning at 10am.
The voting would in secret, but the vote counting would be open and expected to take about take about two hours.
The vote on former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra would be carried out in the same manner, so would the vote count, he said.
This was in compliance with NLA meeting regulation No 158. The National Anti-Corruption Act also requires an impeachment vote to be made in secret.
Asked about a party for NLA members at the army club on Thursday night, Mr Pornpetch said it would definitely not be an event for anyone to canvass for votes.
Mr Pornpetch refused to reply on being asked when the political ban would begin if Ms Yingluck were impeached, saying he could not say anything before the result is known.
